Our Story

A Passion for Preservation

Founded in 1998 by David Cooper, Cooperage House emerged from a simple observation: some of the most characterful buildings in our cities were being overlooked by conventional developers.

What began as a single warehouse conversion in East London has grown into a portfolio of over 150 heritage transformations across the United Kingdom. Our name pays homage to our first project, a Victorian cooperage (barrel-making workshop) that we transformed into stunning residential lofts.

Today, Cooperage House remains a boutique operation by design. We believe that exceptional development requires personal attention, deep expertise, and a genuine passion for preserving the architectural heritage that gives our cities their soul.

Our Values

What Guides Us

Heritage First

Every building tells a story. We listen carefully to what each structure has to say before beginning any work. Original features are preserved, celebrated, and integrated thoughtfully into modern designs.

Uncompromising Quality

We work with master craftsmen who understand traditional building techniques. From lime mortar to hand-forged ironwork, we use authentic materials and methods wherever possible.

Sustainable Practice

Adaptive reuse is inherently sustainable. By breathing new life into existing structures, we preserve embodied carbon while creating energy-efficient spaces for modern living.
